2019 Event Review

Carmel College PTFA hosted it’s annual ArtFusions from the 20 to the 22 September. The ArtFusions exhibition has been a regular event at Carmel College since 1997, showcasing New Zealand artworks from established and emerging artists, all of which were for sale.

On the Gala Night, guests were warmly welcomed by students performing a mihi and a karakei. Carmel girls greeted people at reception and lead them down a pathway flanked with palm trees and twinkling lights to the entrance of the exhibition. The exhibition began with the outdoor artwork displayed in the Harkins Courtyard. Guests then moved to the Atrium where the boutique was. The final stop was the Gymnasium which had been transformed into a gallery exhibiting fine art and indoor sculpture. Upstairs on the mezzanine floor was the student art display.

Carmel students provided entertainment over the weekend, playing instruments, singing and performing cultural dances. Guests enjoyed a delicious high tea on Saturday and were entertained by the Garden of Eden Fashion Show while the exhibition continued through until Sunday.

There were also raffles and silent auctions running all weekend. The weather was fabulous over the weekend, the lake sparkled in the sunshine. The Carmel student Faith Café also ran over the weekend, serving people coffee, baking and sandwiches.

This year, money raised will go towards upgrading the AV system in the college gymnasium. This is a huge event for the school and it would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, parents, student volunteers and attendees.

We look forward to welcoming you to our next exhibition details of which will be available in due course.
